Jason Deal, a senior at Paloma Valley High in California, finished second in his 200-meter qualifying heat in a wind-legal 21.19 seconds at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Deal ran the fourth-fastest 200 among all athletes who qualified for the state final. He also clocked a wind-legal 10.81 to finish fifth in his 100-meter dash prelim race.
